The Inheritance Tax Trap returns: join us at Kingdom, Penshurst this October

Inheritance Tax has rarely generated as many questions as it does today.

Our recent Inheritance Tax events have proved extremely popular, and it’s easy to understand why. Changes to the way pensions will be treated for Inheritance Tax from April 2027 mean that some families may need to look again at plans they thought were already in good order.

That’s why we’re bringing The Inheritance Tax Trap back for another special event, this time at the beautiful Kingdom in Penshurst on Tuesday 20 October.

Why are we running it again?

One thing became very clear from our previous events: people want to understand what the changes could actually mean for them.

From 6 April 2027, most unused pension funds and pension death benefits will be included within a person’s estate for Inheritance Tax purposes. For some families, that could change the eventual value of their estate for tax purposes and make existing plans worth revisiting.

But pensions are only one part of the Inheritance Tax picture. Property, savings, investments, gifts and the allowances available can all play a part.

Our aim is to make a complicated subject much easier to understand.

What will we cover?

David Braithwaite, Karen Gorbutt and Richard Harris will take you through the key issues in straightforward English, including:

  • what counts towards the value of your estate
  • how Inheritance Tax works and when it may become payable
  • what is changing for pensions from April 2027
  • the importance of understanding the allowances that may be available
  • some of the options people may want to consider when planning ahead.

There will also be a dedicated Q&A with members of our adviser team, giving you the opportunity to ask the questions that matter to you.
