Could the 2027 IHT changes affect your family?
A significant change to the Inheritance Tax rules comes into force on 6 April 2027, but many people may not yet realise how it could affect them and their family.
From that date, most unused pension funds and death benefits will be included when calculating the value of an estate for Inheritance Tax. This could mean more estates exceed the available IHT thresholds, including some that may not previously have been expected to face an IHT bill.
If your total estate, including your pension, exceeds the available IHT thresholds, the taxable value could be charged at up to 40%.
After a lifetime of earning, saving and paying tax, it’s understandable to feel frustrated at the thought of more of the wealth you intended for your family being lost to tax.
Our Inheritance Tax Trap event is designed to help you understand what is changing, whether it could affect you and what you can start thinking about now.
What will you learn?
During the morning, we’ll cover:
- How Inheritance Tax could affect your estate
- What the 2027 IHT changes to pensions could mean for you and your family
- How including your pension could push more of your estate above the available IHT thresholds
- Practical estate planning strategies that could help reduce or even eliminate an IHT liability
- The steps you can consider now to help protect more of your wealth for the people you care about
Why attend?
During the morning, we’ll cover:
- Understand whether the 2027 changes could affect you and why more estates may fall within the scope of Inheritance Tax
- Hear clear explanations from experienced financial professionals, without unnecessary jargon
- Put your questions to our panel during a dedicated Q&A, giving you the opportunity to explore the issues and planning considerations that matter most to you
- Find out what you can start thinking about now, rather than waiting until the new rules come into force
