Karen Gorbutt: From Financial Planning to Centre Stage

At Citrus Financial, we love discovering the hidden talents of our team, and our very own Karen Gorbutt has certainly impressed us with hers.

Hidden Talents

Alongside her role as a brilliant financial adviser, Karen balances a busy family life as a mum to two boys, practises Karate in her spare time, and still finds the energy to take part in local theatre productions.

Recently, the Citrus team took a trip to the Oast House Theatre in Tonbridge to see Karen in the lead role of Beryl. The play that tells the inspiring story of Beryl Burton, one of Britain’s greatest, but often overlooked, cycling champions. Beryl defied the odds throughout her career, holding numerous records (including beating the men’s record for a 12-hour time trial) and winning more than 90 domestic championships, all while raising a family and working full time.

Karen delivered a brilliant performance, capturing Beryl’s spirit with humour, heart, and a very convincing Yorkshire accent (at least to our southern ears!).

Congratulations, Karen, we’re all incredibly proud of you. We’ll definitely be in the audience for the next one!

Beryl is on at the The Oast Theatre in Tonbridge from Saturday 22nd March 2025 – Saturday 29th March 2025
