On Sunday, Jenny Brockman joined more than 60,000 runners at the start line of the London Marathon, now officially the largest marathon ever held. By the end of the day, she was one of them who crossed the finish line.
Her first marathon. 26.2 miles. An extraordinary personal achievement.
Running for a reason
Many of you will have followed Jenny’s journey over the past few months. From early training runs to those long Sunday mornings building up the miles, it’s been a huge commitment alongside work, family life and everything else that comes with it.
This was never just about completing a marathon.
Jenny took on the challenge in support of Mind, and in memory of her brother Tom. That purpose has been there from the beginning.
As Jenny said when she first set out:
“The truth is, you never really know what someone else might be going through and it’s not always easy to speak up and reach out.
So please check in on your friends and family. And if you are struggling, know that you are not alone. Help is out there, and you deserve support.”
Thank you for your support
Thanks to the generosity of so many people, including many of our clients, Jenny has raised more than £5,100 for Mind.
That will make a genuine difference to a charity doing important work.
From all of us at Citrus, we’re incredibly proud of what she’s achieved.
And finally…
Having completed her first marathon, Jenny has already started encouraging the rest of the team to give it a go next year.
We’re not entirely sure how many volunteers she’ll get.
One piece of advice she has shared: go up two shoe sizes. Apparently, your feet will thank you later!
