This year, Jenny Brockman, one of our advisers at Citrus Financial, is taking on a huge personal challenge… running the London Marathon.
It will be Jenny’s first marathon, and training is already well underway. Like many busy parents, she fits runs in where she can during the week, with longer sessions at weekends. Often, those runs include some extra company, with her young daughter Molly along for the ride in her pushchair. It’s very much a team effort, with Molly beside her and Jenny’s husband Charlie firmly in her corner, supporting her every step of the way.
Running with purpose
Jenny isn’t just running for the challenge. She’s running in support of Mind, a cause that’s especially close to her heart.
Mind provides vital help to people experiencing mental health challenges, as well as guidance for friends and family who want to support someone they care about. The charity’s work focuses not only on crisis support, but also on raising awareness and encouraging open conversations around mental health, something Jenny feels strongly about.
London itself also has deep personal meaning for Jenny and her family, which made applying for the marathon feel right. Being selected as one of Mind’s official charity runners came as a surprise (and a slightly daunting moment), but it confirmed that this was a challenge worth taking on.
A huge challenge - and an important message
Jenny has never run further than 10k before, so 26.2 miles will be a serious physical and mental test. But she’s determined to see it through, motivated by the impact her run can have beyond the finish line.
Mental health struggles aren’t always visible, and it’s not always easy for people to speak up when they’re finding things hard. Jenny hopes her marathon run will help shine a light on the importance of checking in on those around us, and reminding people that support is out there.
Want to support Jenny?
If you’d like to sponsor Jenny, any donation — big or small — would be hugely appreciated and will help Mind continue its life-changing work. Every contribution also provides a boost of encouragement as Jenny trains for the miles ahead.
From all of us at Citrus Financial, we’re incredibly proud of Jenny and the commitment she’s shown, both to this challenge and to a cause that really matters. We’ll be cheering her on all the way.
